Inclusive play is our major mission in upgrading the playground at Caroline Bay. Below are some inclusive goals we are working towards. We used the following critea to asses the purposed equipmentto ensure the new playground is suitable to a wide range of ages and abilities.
Opportunities for imaginative play.
Multi-user equipment and spaces that support social play and development.
Everyone can access the main play piece and have meaningful play experiences (including people in wheelchairs).
Play opportunities can be accessed at a variety of heights.
Calm zones and/or opportunities for rest, passive relaxation or to play solo.
Choice of play types and challenge levels to suit different abilities and ages.
Provides valuable sensory input to support development and/or help guide and navigate children who have a sensory impairment (eg low vision).
Supports body position awareness (proprioception) and sense of balance (vestibular sense) plus other physical benefits.
Allows easy caregiver supervision and multi-generational play opportunities.
