Hi
It's all go! It was so exciting to see the security fences go up. Since then the playground has quickly changed to a construction site.
Curle Contracting came in to remove the equipment, seats, concrete footings and rubber matting.
(We have had an exciting opportunity to recycle the old rubber, will bring you an update on that soon).
Despite some hail storms, wind and rain the task was completed on time. Fortunately, there were not too many surprises for this initial stage, mostly a few extra lumps of concrete in unexpected places.
It is so great to be underway, the next milestone is to strip the top soil and bring in gravel. This work is to:
- Level and smooth out the ground surface to make it suitable for construction.
- Create a stable base or foundation for building.
- Install drainage contours and channels so the water can be diverted away from the play area.
- Create gentle slopes and level surfaces, to make it easier for people with mobility issues or disabilities to access the play equipment.
Here are some photos of the progress taken by committee member Roselyn Fauth.
